MORE™ AntiEtch™ Marble Sealer

Recently a wonderful and mysterious sealer was applied to the marble counters in a home on the popular HGTV program Hidden Potential. As an applicator, we have been getting a lot of calls and questions regarding this sealer: what it does, how it’s applied, the longevity and maintenance, how to get in touch with a certified applicator.

This site was created to help you with those questions and steer you in the direction of an applicator in your area if you wish.

The Why:

Marble is a beautiful and historic material that has been growing in popularity recently as customers search for that perfect look for their kitchen. This popularity comes with a catch. Marble etches. Marble is highly reactive to pretty much everything in your kitchen. Wine, carbonated beverages, condiments, juices, and cleaning agents can spill on the surface. No matter how fast you wipe it, it leaves behind what looks like a water spot. These little circular “water spots” are etches. Removing these etches and blending the finish is next to impossible unless you are trained in stone restoration. And what happens when the first glass is set on your newly refinished counter?

Until recently, there was no long term solution to marble countertop etches and homeowners have had to resign themselves to the constant expense and inconvenience of having their counters refinished regularly.

The What:

MORE™ AntiEtch™ is the solution.

MORE™ AntiEtch™ is the ultimate in marble countertop protection. With a 10 year warranty, installed by a certified MORE™ AntiEtch™ Applicator, your counters will be etch proof. No more worrying about liquids touching your counter. No more stress of having have your guests use coasters, or running around and putting napkins under wine glasses. No more arranging for a full day to have your counters refinished and if you should remove your faucets or not. No more interviewing restoration companies.

The treated surface is as hard as marble and the finish is the same as your existing counters but will never etch. With MORE™ AntiEtch™ you can seal it and forget it.

The How:

The surface is prepared for the sealer by sanding to allow the system to bind to the counters. A carefully measured and prepared batch of MORE™ AntiEtch™ is applied and cured using our proprietary UV technology. The curing takes just a few minutes. Once cured our team sands the surface to your desired finish.

You can expect the application to take about one day per 70 square feet depending on the number of counters and their locations. This is an involved process that requires a great amount of detail and technical expertise so please allow additional time that may be required.

Can I have any finish?
Yes, you can duplicate your existing finish or change the finish to your liking. The most popular finishes for MORE™ AntiEtch™ are Polished (high gloss) and Matte (Low-No Shine). Either way you decide, the surface will not etch so you will not see those unsightly stains from soaps, cosmetics, or household cleaners.

How long does it take to apply MORE™ AntiEtch™ Sealer?
Most counters will take one day if the counters are ready to go when we arrive.

Is the product application and use safe?
Yes, the sealer is water-based, very low odor during the application, and the resulting cured surface is completely non-porous preventing germs and bacteria from being harbored by the counter. Use your favorite cleaners to remove all residues.

How do I prepare for the service?
All we need is the counters cleared like any other refinishing service and the fixtures removed. We recommend using a licensed plumber for removal of the fixtures. Sureshine does not perform plumbing work. The fixtures can be reinstalled immediately after we complete the counters.

Is there a warranty for this service?
Yes your newly installed MORE™ AntiEtch™ is warrantied for 10 years though it should last much longer though. Keep in mind that the surface will have the same hardness as the marble so some scratching can occur. Scratching and other damage done to the coating is not covered by the warranty. We can do a quick polish for you when you need it, but we are confident that you will just forget that you have sensitive counters and live your life.
